Since his youth, Tay Humphrey has never been afraid to face new challenges or take chances. As a former PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association) bull rider, he traveled much of his teen years in the Western circuit riding bulls at small town Rodeos. His love for the Cowboy culture and country music is undying. Influenced by great talent such as Garth Brooks, Waylon Jennings, Keith Whitley, Gary Allan and his all time favorite, his hero, a legendary Cowboy, the late Chris LeDoux. After a series of injuries, two major surgeries and not much in winnings, Tay took the advice of his family and left behind to rodeo life to get a “real job”.
Since then, he has spent his days working as a construction welder and his nights writing and playing country music. Influenced by the hard life of the blue-collar man, he shares those emotions through his songs. “Music has always been my escape; I could not imagine my life without it. These songs are short stories of my life, they are ways I’ve felt and things I’ve lived through, these songs really are my best friends”, says Tay.
Encouraged by family and friends to pursue his dream in country music, in late 2007 he headed off to Music City with his guitar and pocket full of dreams.
Tay has a unique sound that is rare and convincing. He takes pride in his traditional country roots.
"It's refreshing to work with someone that has a real sense of who they are as an artist, and who has a voice that's distinctive from everything out there! I'm excited about getting to work with such a unique talent!" says- Jason Garner, Producer
